FAQ
I'm located in the Sunrise Meadows community in Saratoga Springs, and I teach art from my cozy in-home studio. To respect the privacy of my family and students, I don't list the exact address on my website. However, once a student is registered, I'm happy to provide the address to the parent. If you're interested in seeing the general area before registering, you can use the address of a nearby church, which is 947 N Jack Rabbit Run, Saratoga Springs. It's just a few minutes away from my studio, and I can provide more detailed directions once you're registered.
We offer a variety of exciting art classes for kids aged 5-12. Each class is designed to introduce students to different art mediums, such as watercolor, acrylic, clay, and printmaking, and our projects are customized to suit the unique needs and abilities of each class. The focus of each class is to instill a love of exploration and play with art.
At my in-home art studio, I teach with the philosophy that the joy of art is in the process of creating, not just the finished project. I believe that creative arts offer children numerous valuable skills, such as creative problem-solving, intuition, observation, and more. I make a sincere effort to get to know each child personally, so I can understand how best to help them thrive creatively. Although we learn various techniques and skills, the focus is much more heart-based, with a focus on encouraging and nurturing each child's unique creativity. I believe that everyone has a need to create, and my studio provides an uplifting and supportive space to do so.
While I do not require contracts, signing up for a weekly class indicates a commitment to the school year from Sept-April. This policy helps me to keep tuition affordable and creates a sense of community among the students who grow together as a group. I understand that unexpected circumstances may arise, so I encourage parents to communicate with me in advance if there are any issues so we can come up with a solution.
I hope you can understand that teaching art is not just a hobby for me, it's a profession that I am dedicated to. Your commitment to the school year helps me to plan and prepare for each class and ultimately supports my family. Thank you for your understanding.
My classes run from Sept to April for two main reasons. Firstly, by having a consistent group of students for the entire duration of the program, I am able to charge a lower rate and make classes more accessible to a wider range of families. Secondly, the longer period of time allows me to get to know each student individually, better understand their needs and adapt the class accordingly. Learning a new skill takes practice and commitment, and our weekly classes provide a structured environment for students to practice their skills in a fun and supportive setting. By committing to the full program, students have ample time to learn and practice their skills, and are able to see their progress over time. I also understand that sometimes circumstances change so I do not require a contract. Instead I ask for communication so that we can work something out.
